Press Release
Mayor and Councillor Storytimes at your CLMA this Summer
For immediate release
May 15, 2024—Clarington Library, Museums & Archives is excited to welcome members of the Municipality of Clarington Council to storytimes throughout June, July, and August. Each storytime will feature a Municipal Councillor or Mayor Foster as its special guest, who will read stories and answer questions from young participants.
“We are thrilled to have our Mayor and Councillors participate in our storytimes this summer,” says Monika Machacek, Chief Executive Officer of Clarington Library, Museums & Archives. “Storytimes will be offered across Clarington, at our Bowmanville, Courtice, Newcastle, and Orono Libraries. Early literacy is a vital part of our mandate and our growing community, and it will be wonderful for the children to be able to meet and speak with members of our local council.”
Lloyd Rang, Ward 2 Councillor and CLMA Board Member, is happy to be involved, and will be hosting a storytime on Wednesday, June 19, 10:30am, at the Bowmanville Library. “Stories inspire us, change us, connect us and delight us,” Mr. Rang said. “That’s one of the things that makes libraries so valuable to our community — they are places where our kids can experience the life-changing power of a great story, and as council we are thrilled to support that.”
The storytimes are drop-in, all ages welcome. Please note that the planned schedule for the storytimes may change; please see the CLMA website for the most up-to-date information.
