Clarington Library, Museums & Archives Enriching Heritage and Building Community this Fall

October 20, 2025—Clarington Library, Museums & Archives is continuing its busy fall season with a full slate of events that celebrate Clarington’s local heritage and help build community connections. A walking tour, a speaker series with local historians, and a heritage fair with community organizations and history groups, along with a Customer Appreciation Day, Repair Café, and local vendors market are all happening this October and November.

“We consider the community the core of our organization, and it’s wonderful being able to celebrate that community, the heritage, stories, and people that call Clarington home,” states Tenzin Shomar, Library Board Chair.

“We enrich our community fabric by building and strengthening connections,” continues Monika Machacek, CEO of Clarington Library, Museums & Archives. “The Newcastle Walking Tour and Heritage Fair, for example, feature our partner organizations that are helping preserve our local history, while the Repair Café and Winter Market connects local crafters and makers to tools, resources, and new audiences.”

“These events help bring history to life,” says Lloyd Rang, Ward 2 Councillor and Clarington Public Library Board member. “Community organizations, local historians and authors, and events like the Heritage Speaker Series help protect our rich heritage and ensure Clarington's stories and traditions are passed on.”

Customer Appreciation Day is being held across all CLMA locations on Wednesday, October 22. The Newcastle Walking Tour starts at the Newcastle Library on Saturday, October 25, 10am. The Heritage Fair is being held at the Bowmanville Library on Saturday, November 1, from 1:30 to 3:30pm, and on Saturday, November 15, 2:30pm, Judith Clapperton will be featured as part of the Heritage Speaker Series at Sarah Jane Williams Museum. The Repair Café is at the Courtice Library on Saturday, November 22, 12 to 3pm. Just in time for the launch of the holiday shopping season, the Winter Market is being held at the Bowmanville Library on Saturday, November 29, 10am to 2pm.
